Walker, MI – August 2025

This summer, Speedrack Products Group welcomed  Andrew Wheelock, an  intern from Alpena Community College, into the Engineering Department. Andrew made a big impact during his time here, completing his capstone project: new storage shelving for the Accounting Department.

The project featured roll form shelving with custom uprights, and was designed, measured, and overseen by Andrew himself. He managed every step, from brainstorming and measuring, to working with the CAD experts to create detailed drawings, to supervising the installation, all while learning “how rack designs are done and the nuances of labeling various parts.”

For Andrew, the experience was both educational and rewarding: “It was really cool to see this whole project completed, from start to finish, in this environment,” he shared, noting that the shelving would benefit the employees he had worked alongside all summer.

The internship also confirmed his career path: “I’ve always enjoyed building and designing things,” Andrew said. “This confirmed that I want to go into structural engineering.”

At Speedrack, we believe in pouring into students and fostering new talent in the supply chain industry. Supporting interns like Andrew is one way we invest in innovation and the future of the industry.

We wish Andrew all the best in his studies and career ahead—and we thank him for leaving his mark on Speedrack.
