Building Up, Not Out

Menard USA | Butler, PA

Alpha Omega Shelving

Background

More room for inventory without the need for more square footage.

When Menard USA needed to maximize storage capacity at its Butler, Pennsylvania facility, the challenge wasn’t finding more floor space. It was making better use of the space already available.

Working with Alpha Omega Shelving, a family-owned, second-generation Speedrack distributor, Menard USA implemented a selective pallet racking solution designed to take advantage of the warehouse’s vertical space and maximize storage capacity within its existing footprint.

The Challenge

Limited Floor Space, Growing Storage Needs –
With a tight warehouse footprint, Menard USA needed a way to maximize pallet storage without expanding the facility. Every square foot mattered, making efficient space utilization a top priority.

Making the Most of Available Height –
While floor space was limited, the warehouse offered an opportunity to expand storage vertically. The challenge was developing a racking configuration that could take advantage of the available height while maintaining practical access to inventory.

Features

Selective Pallet Racking

Speedrack’s durable, engineered selective pallet rack systems provide flexible storage with direct access to individual pallet positions.

Maximized Vertical Storage

By utilizing the available warehouse height, the racking configuration increases storage potential without requiring additional floor space.

Efficient Space Utilization

A storage layout designed to make better use of the existing warehouse footprint, maximizing pallet storage capacity within a limited area.

Flexible, Accessible Storage

Selective racking provides easy access to stored inventory while offering the flexibility to accommodate changing storage needs.

SOlutions

By combining Alpha Omega Shelving’s local expertise with Speedrack’s engineered selective pallet racking, Menard USA gained a storage solution designed to make smarter use of their available warehouse space.

Rather than expanding the facility’s footprint, the project focused on maximizing vertical storage capacity. The resulting configuration allows Menard USA to take greater advantage of its warehouse height while maintaining accessible, organized pallet storage.

The approach was simple: Build up, not out.

Menard USA knows a thing or two about breaking ground. But when it came to maximizing warehouse storage, the best solution was to build up, not out.

By taking advantage of previously underutilized vertical space, Menard USA gained greater pallet storage capacity within its existing footprint, without the cost or disruption of a building expansion.

The project demonstrates how the right racking configuration can turn limited warehouse space into a more productive storage environment; no groundbreaking required.
