Speedrack began a major expansion of its manufacturing facilities in Quincy, MI earlier this year. On July 14, a groundbreaking ceremony took place to officially launch the project, with representatives from Speedrack, the Village of Quincy, and Mill Rights Union.
Speedrack’s Quincy facility opened in 2003 with only 25 employees. The 375,000 square feet facility is now one of the top wage providers in the area, employing 250 people.
Numerous material investments have since been made to the facility including mills, robotics, and the addition of two new paint lines.
Despite these improvements, increasingly high demand for Speedrack products has strained capacity. To meet this growth, the company is investing more than twenty million dollars to expand the facility.
The expansion will add an additional 130,000 square feet to the building footprint. Equipment will include new paint lines, mills, robotics, welding jigs, locker rooms and shipping docks. To fill the employment needs of this expansion, upwards of 80 additional employees will be hired.
The expansion is scheduled to be completed in early 2021.
